One Word...

At the beginning of 2020, in one of our leadership meetings, we did an activity about our intent for the year, our one word. For 2020, my word was BELIEVE. At the time, I didn't realize how powerful that word would be and how many areas outside of work I would draw on the strength of that word. We have to BELIEVE in ourselves and in others.

While I enjoyed the activity that lead to my word for 2020, I wanted to know more about the process and started doing some research in early December. I've become a big Jon Gordon fan and ordered his book, One Word that will change your life. I finally made the time to read this book on the last day of 2020 and it was SO GOOD! It was a quick read, like less than an hour, but the impact was still great. I read it while I was walking on the treadmill watching the rain. One of the steps tells you to "unplug" and process in quiet, away from technology - so I took my time on the treadmill for this. I also did some praying and listening to music as I prayed for my One Word. I prayed for God to reveal his One Word to me as I went through the steps in the book. There were several that popped into my head, but I knew I needed just ONE, so I kept praying for the word that God could use in me. I really thought it might take a while to "hear" my word, but as with lots of great ideas, my word for 2021 was revealed to me in the shower and it came in LOUD AND CLEAR. My word for 2021 is BOLD.

In the book, Jon tells you to put your word where you can see it. Once you have your word, look up images, scriptures or quotes around your word. This scripture was the first one to pop up when I searched and it was like it spoke to my soul. In fact, this image is a print that I will likely order from esty as it would serve as a beautiful reminder of my word and God's promises.

So as we start 2021, I am going to live BOLD in all areas of my life. Some of you may think that is easy as you already have outgoing personalities, but for me, living BOLD will stretch me outside of my comfort zone and I can't wait to see how God will use me for his glory in this upcoming year. I challenge you to think and pray about what will your ONE WORD be for 2021. How will you LIVE out your ONE WORD? Share your word on social media and tag me in your post so we can support each other this year. (@sjune27)
