Making a plan that works for you and your family is the key to making a healthy lifestyle change
I don't know about you but I love having a plan and working to make that happen. But if there's one thing I know about life, it's that our plans don't always work out. And you know what? That is OKAY!
Don't get me wrong, a plan is still my goal here, but sometimes we have to learn (the hard way) that God's plan's are different (and WAY better) than our own. I'm here today to share with you how I started my FASTer Way journey in the middle of Football Season.
Now if you are here and not from Texas or your family isn't a "coaching" family you may be wondering why I'm making a big deal about a significant lifestyle change in the middle of Football season during a pandemic, but trust me, it was a CRAZY idea and I managed to make it work.....so can you!
For me the key was to look at the FASTer Way meal plan and ideas from my coach Cindy (you can check out her blog here), look at our upcoming week (full of meetings, practices, and games) and make a meal plan that I knew I could stick to. That means, I often cook enough for leftovers and plan ahead on nights I know I'm going to be eating out (Friday Night Lights in the fall and not Wednesday's with Basketball). I make sure I have healthy snack options (nuts, raisins, apples, grass feed jerkey sticks, etc) to grab when in a pinch. And I grab some water when ever I can.
We all live different busy lives, the key to making this lifestyle change (well, really any change) is to find a system or plan that works for you. I write it out in pencil on my calendar and then post it on our Family Command Center white board so everyone knows what dinner will be each day.
I also start off each week with my Weekly Game Plan - 3 things that I will promise to do for myself that will help me reach my goals. Because lets be honest, if I'm taking better care of ME, then I will be stronger and healthier to help take care of those in my family.
My Game Plan for the last week of 2020:
Drink 85+ ounces of water a day
Get in at least 5 workouts
Hit my Macros each day
What will your game plan be?
